Our Learn to Play D&D sessions are designed for first-time players who want to try the game in a friendly, easy-to-follow environment. You do not need to know the rules, own any books, or bring anything with you.
We provide everything you need on the day, including dice, character sheets, guidance from a friendly Dungeon Master, and a selection of premade characters to choose from.
Just book your seat, arrive on the day, and join the adventure.
How Learn to Play Works
1. Arrive and Choose Your Character
When you arrive, we’ll welcome you to the table and help you choose from a selection of ready-made characters.
You might play a brave fighter, a clever wizard, a sneaky rogue, a healing cleric, or another classic fantasy hero.
No character-building experience needed.
2. Learn the Basics as You Play
You do not need to study the rules beforehand.
Your Dungeon Master will explain what you need to know during the game: how to describe what your character does, when to roll dice, how skill checks work, and how combat plays out.
The focus is on learning through play, not sitting through a lecture.
3. Play a Beginner-Friendly Adventure
Once everyone is ready, your party will begin a short adventure designed for new players using the Heroes of the Borderlands D&D Starter Set.
You’ll explore locations, talk to characters, make choices, roll dice, and face exciting challenges together.
The adventure is built to introduce the main parts of D&D in a simple and fun way.
There is no pressure to know everything.
You can ask questions throughout the session, and your Dungeon Master will guide you through your options. The aim is to help you feel comfortable, involved, and ready to play again.
